Rectangular chapel, built in Kunrader stone with a roof in front of the entrance, which rests on two pillars, also made of Kunrader stone.

History of the H. Hart Chapel Benzenrade.

In 1921 Welten became a parish and as a result the great procession of the Sacrament would also come to Benzenrade, Pastor Keybets suggested the idea of erecting a large crucifix, but after long deliberation the idea was conceived to build a chapel.

In 1924, the following initiators: Bert Moonen, Simon Eurlings, Gerard Klinkers, Lambert de Esch, Mathieu Mertens, Hub Crombach and Alfons Habets started building the chapel. As construction site they chose the then called “frog pool”, the municipality of Heerlen donated the building land for this purpose free of charge. The Welten Church Board has it on a long lease. Construction started in the spring of 1924 and on August 15, 1925 (Assumption Day), Father Keybets performed the consecration with great interest and the chapel was dedicated to the Sacred Heart.
