The Lennebergwald is a popular destination in the region and is ideal for hiking, walking, cycling and jogging. The sandy soil, which can only store a small amount of water and nutrients, and the dry Upper Rhine climate have created a steppe-like dune landscape that provides a habitat for some animal and plant species threatened with extinction.
