The Junker Hansen Tower is the landmark of the city of Neustadt. Named after the Hessian court master Junker Hans von Dörnberg, it was built around 1480 as part of the city fortifications by the landgrave master builder Hans Jakob von Ettlingen. Planned as a keep and completed as a residential tower, the accessible Junker Hansen Tower with a total height of over 50 m and a diameter of around 13 m is the largest half-timbered building in Europe.

After the long renovation, the tower shines again in its old or new splendor. The "gate" to the small but quaint old town of Neustadt and the city park located directly at the tower are always worth a walk.
