Memorial stele for the victims of the witch hunts in Bernau in the 16th and 17th centuries.
On the stele made of rusty steel are the names of 25 women and three men, all of whom were accused of witchcraft, tortured and executed in Bernau near Berlin between 1536 and 1658 because they aroused the envy of their fellow citizens and the envy of those in power at the time. Or just because they were different.

About the coat of arms clock: The coat of arms clock, erected in 2022, presents the coat of arms of the city. The art clock is about 8 meters high and weighs 3.2 tons. The dial has a diameter of 2 meters and shows the sights of Bernau and the city wall. When the front window is open, the life-size copper bear stands up on the hour and taps the fruit of the oak tree four times with its left paw. This symbolizes the quarter hour strike. A bell in the roof rings the number of hours. The eagle from the coat of arms of the city of Bernau flaps its wings during the entire event. After striking, the bear turns back to the audience and bows, before returning to its original position. The bear proves its skills once a day at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
