Road Cycling Highlight (Segment)
This Highlight goes through a protected area
Please check local regulations for: Naturpark Bergisches Land
Location: Bergisch Gladbach, Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis, Bergisches Land, Cologne District, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany
Anyone who crosses the Bergisches Land from valley to valley could get the impression of being in the "mountainous land". Incline follows incline and makes driving in Bergisch a real challenge for bad legs.
You need good legs for the route from Oberselbach up to the tranquil Bärbroich. The 1,300-meter climb starts flat, but after the curve in the middle of the route it stretches like the season finale of "How I Met Your Mother".
Until a few years ago, the route mostly led through dense forest, but the spruce dying in recent years has also changed the appearance of the landscape around Bärbroich. And so the forest thins out towards the summit, like Tom Boonen's hairstyle.

Mental highlight of this tour is, in my impression, the slope from the departure Bärbroich. The slope has, after the previously traveled heights, in itself. In this first tour I stayed in between and made the photos for my own apology and fueled by an energy booster (banana) power and then continued the tour;) ... Finally, in my opinion, a thoroughly beautiful tour ... with well-distributed ascents and descents and really impressive landscapes ... the final stretch on the Rhine ... for me for many years now desire Cologne ... an absolute highlight at the end :) Herry

Great descent if the direction is right. Unfortunately not a one-way street, so be careful! Cars and motorcyclists come towards ...

Usually little traffic, because curves and gradients make fun.
