"The Municipality of Marmentino is located between the Valtrompia and the Valsabbia.

The history of Marmentino as a municipality is relatively recent: until the 18th century it was part of the Valsabbino territory. In 1955 it became an autonomous municipality.

According to various hypotheses, the name derives from a grass that grows on the banks of ditches or from Roman prisons: the name Marmentino seems to be linked to the sending of Marmentino-panorama slaves destined to work in the mines.

The jagged profile of Castel della Pena dominates the hairpin bends that lead to the three hamlets that make up Marmentino: Ville, Dosso, from where the road to Vagezza and Ombriano starts.

Its territory favors the possibility of walks in the green and in the quiet. "
