The mill is a medium-speed mill and stands on the edge of the Weltervijver pond on Welterkerkstraat in the Welten district. The watermill is fed by the Geleenbeek stream.
The watermill was mentioned as early as 1381 and belonged to Strijthagen Castle, also known as Huis te Welten. The mill was restored in 1982. During the French period, the complex was owned by Philippe Henri Veugen and Jean Godefroid Veugen.
