Nice to visit and have a rest.

The origins of Cesena are lost in the 6th-5th century BC, a period in which the first Umbrian and Etruscan settlements in the area date back. Roman city and then free municipality in the early Middle Ages, at the end of the 14th century the city became a lordship with the Malatesta family and reached its splendor with the establishment of the Malatestiana Library.
After the brief duchy of Cesare Borgia, of which the city was the capital, Cesena returned under the direct rule of the Papal State and saw two popes of Cesena origins.

The Malatestiana Library is the first Civic Library in Italy, founded in 1452 by will of the Lord of Cesena Malatesta Novello, recognized in 2005 as "Memory of the World" by UNESCO, for the value of the architectural structure and for the codes preserved in it. Unique in the world, it has remained practically unchanged since its inauguration in 1454. Opposite the Sala del Nuti is the Piana Library, owned by Pope Pius VII, one of the three popes of Cesena; in it you can admire, among other things, 15 splendid choirs.

Cesena also owes its Rocca Malatestiana to the Malatesta Lordship, one of the most impressive in Romagna which can be seen from its terraces, with the "court" and two central towers: the "male" and the "female". The visit to the route along the walkways inside the city walls, to the ancient prisons, to the exhibition of jousting weapons, to the Agricultural Museum is very suggestive.

Tall, visible from every part of the city, the thousand-year-old Benedictine Abbey of Santa Maria del Monte is famous above all for the Basilica of the same name, which houses the important collection of ex-votos, among the richest in Europe, and for the Laboratory of restoration of the ancient book.
        ...
A visit to Cesena cannot ignore a walk along the lively streets of the historic centre, from Piazza del Popolo, characterized by the Masini Fountain, a jewel of the Mannerist age, to Palazzo del Ridotto, dominated by the bronze statue of Pope Pius VI, from the Cathedral of S. Giovanni Battista, with the Chapel of the Madonna del Popolo and the Cathedral Museum, at the “Alessandro Bonci” Theatre, a true neoclassical jewel.
