The site of the former quarry at Isenberg was bought in 1976 by the DAV Essen section. It had been discovered around the end of the 1960s as a possibility for bouldering. Some climbing routes were also opened up, some of which were climbed with artificial aids until the 1980s, until the concept of red dots took hold here as well. In 1988 the climbing garden was rebuilt and extended by the section and the climbing routes were equipped with solid hook material. To the chagrin of the boulderers, some meters were dug at the foot of the wall, which indeed increased the route length, but abducted most boulders to lofty heights above the jump limit.

Isenberg is a small quarry near Hattingen. Formerly traded as the bouldering center of the Ruhr area, now used after extensive renovation work rather for climbing routes. The rock, which takes some getting used to, mainly offers routes of lower to medium difficulty with a maximum wall height of 17 meters. The tours are consistently well secured with bolts. In addition, a chain attached in the exit area facilitates the dismantling of the routes.

One way or the other. Up the stairs the passage is not without and downhill experience is required.
