The Cannon Kissing Gate was unveiled in 1999 by the Duke of Devonshire and Mrs Jill Cannon. Mrs Cannon was the inspiration behind the gate, which was designed to be fully secure yet also wheelchair friendly. It gives access to the 1,000-acre (400 ha) grounds of Chatsworth Park.
