Monumental monument - memorial from the time of the First World War

In October 1917, the Müller-Hoberg siblings from Mönchengladbach erected a terrazzo cross above the Wet Triangle. It was intended to commemorate the parents, as can be seen from the inscription on the back of the cross: “In memory of their parents Kommerzienrat Franz Müller, Theodor Müller, Hermann Müller, Clara Müller-Hoberg, October 1917”. At the front of the cross is the saying: “I give you my peace, my peace that the world does not know,” a reference to the world war that was ongoing at the time. The cross was inaugurated by Pastor Planckermann from Riesenbeck.

“Each of these crosses can tell its own story and what motivated people to build “their” cross on this spot. (...) These crosses were erected as visible signs and attract the attention of many people. The cross is a symbol of life. It stands as a sign of our Christian hope and wants to direct our gaze to Jesus Christ, who conquered death (…). The cross is part of our lives, just as it was part of the life of Jesus.

So I hope that many people ... visit the crosses, whether as places of silence and taking a breath before God, whether as places of community gathering, prayer and praise of God.

A massive stone table stands next to stone benches under the cross and invites you to take a break. The view of the Nasses Dreieck can be enjoyed well in the winter months due to the lack of leaves on the trees.
