In the Billetal you can still find completely untouched nature. This protected area was formed by meltwater towards the end of the last ice age. Today it borders on the largest contiguous forest area in Schleswig-Holstein, the Sachsenwald. Here you can find many rare animal and plant species in an original habitat. With a little bit of luck, you can observe special bird species in the Billetal, such as the dipper, the gray wagtail or the colorful feathered kingfisher. You can wonderfully discover this unique natural area along the Bille hiking trail.
