This small village very much grew up around the canal and was little more than a collection of farm buildings and a pub prior. The waterway created demand for an inland port and Maesbury Marsh expanded in response.

Once a thriving settlement, the village became quieter when the railways began to take over freight and the canal became redundant. Over the years though, it has regained much of its life and today it's a lovely place to visit and explore, seeking out signs of its past.
