The first still standing Mennonite parish hall in Baden is located in Hasselbach. From 1648 to 1652 a group of 160 Anabaptist families migrated from Switzerland to the Kraichgau, which was depopulated by the Thirty Years War. Because of persecution or restrictions, the parishioners would meet in forests or in houses and homesteads. The Hasselbach community was first mentioned in a document in 1731. In 1846 the community built the first and for a long time the only Mennonite community center in Kraichgau. In the 1970s, an extension with group rooms, a kitchen, etc. was built. 100 years ago the church had around 160 members from all over the area. Today the community of Hasselbach has around 45 people.
