Golubovec Castle in Donja Stubica is one of the most valuable Croatian castles of the late Baroque period. It has a high architectural, historical and ambient value, due to which it has been declared a cultural and natural asset of national importance. According to its architectural features, the type of multi-winged castles has a recognizable "U" floor plan.

The park ambience of the castle consists of three different stylistic-landscape and functional units: the park north of the castle, the park forest west and south of the castle, and Vilinske poljane west of the park forest. The park with a park forest is one of the most beautiful Zagorje parks, and its specialty are Vilinske poljane - a large area of about 84 hectares, wavy shapes with streams, lakes, ponds, meadows, arable land, groves, hedges along streams, oak trees and beautiful views of the north. the slopes of Medvednica.

Golubovec Castle was built around 1800 by Regina pl. Domjanić, married Countess Drašković, but as early as 1804 her heirs sold it to Bishop Maksimilijan Vrhovec, who restored the castle and expanded the farm by which he maintained the castle and enabled the construction of a bathing place in Stubičke Toplice. Vrhovac also buys the Donji Golubovec estate, a mansion with smaller outbuildings, located near the castle. The estate is being extended with outbuildings and turned into a major of the Golubovec castle. After his death and the change of owner, the castle experienced stagnation, until Baron Levin Rauch came into his possession and restored and improved it. After the Second World War, Golubovec suffered the fate of most Croatian castles, when its decay began, and the credit for preventing its complete devastation belongs to Kajkaviana, which since 1996 opened the castle to visitors and since then it has hosted concerts, literary evenings, symposia. , exhibitions and other events.
