Casalgrande Alto Castle

What remains of the Casalgrande Alto Castle is a fifteenth-century rural courtyard organized around the fortified residence and equipped with two square towers, as well as the entrance tower, with remains of battlements and a portal with slits for the drawbridge.
Tradition has it that in a villa not far from the Castle, the so-called "count's house", Matteo Maria Bojardo gave life to part of his Orlando Innamorato.

Private residence, I don't think it's open to the public.
Nice climb to reach it and the ring around Casalgrande alto is beautiful.

The climb is quite demanding and reaches 17%, the tears are in any case of short duration and therefore you can "catch your breath", the altitude reached is about 370 meters; the descent at the end of the ring is rather steep, but fairly linear, apart from some returned towards the end of the stretch.
