The Paul Gerhardt Chapel is a classicist building from the years 1830 - 1844 and was built in honor of the important Protestant hymn writer Paul Gerhardt (1607 - 1676) in his birthplace Gräfenhainichen. A special feature of the chapel are the lattice windows raised on all four sides. The interior is characterized by four slender columns, arranged on the right and left. In addition to an extensive permanent exhibition about Paul Gerhardt's life and work, this memorial site now houses a Paul Gerhardt library. The pleasant ambience of the chapel also offers changing exhibitions.
