"On June 13, 1699, Perouse was founded through the arrival of 71 Waldensian families, who named the town in memory of their original home village of Perouse (now Perosa Argentina) in Piedmont.[1] To this day, family names such as Baral, Baret, Charrier, Mouris, Simondet, Servay, and Vinçon recall the origins of the inhabitants.
