The site of Casteldardo today preserves a signal tower, whose first foundation probably dates back to the Roman period and which was inserted in the medieval period in the larger structure of a castle of which only the memories are preserved. This ancient bulwark has played an important defensive role throughout the history of the territory and the frequent disputes and invasions for its possession. The coat of arms of the Municipality of Trichiana recalls this historic building by depicting in its coat of arms a castle with three towers and the bridge over the Ardo stream which is located just behind the current tower and is visible from the road that connects Trichiana to Mel. The ancient tower is surrounded by Prosecco vineyards.
