The farmhouse that gives its name to the neighborhood was then called Mas de la Ruvira. The Serrafossà lineage began in 1576 when Montserrat Fossà married Jaume Serra del Molí (a farmhouse near the town). The lands belonged to the family for 4 centuries. The area became urbanizable in 1972 although the farmhouse is preserved and maintains its agricultural work.
In the mid-1970s the owners of the farmhouse sold much of the land. Much earlier, however, construction had begun on single-family homes with gardens, which are, for the most part, second homes for Barcelona residents.
