There is an interesting story behind the name of this village: it was called St. Margarethen am Silberberg until it was named Noreia in 1930, because after excavations it was believed that the remains of the historic Celtic settlement Noreia had been found. This assumption has now been refuted, but the village still bears the ancient name and there are also other reminiscences, including a stone circle on the outskirts.
