A manor house was attested as early as 1499. After numerous renovations, the castle was built as you see it today. Most recently it was used as a youth hostel.

The former manor has its origins in 1623, when the nobleman Crafft von Bodenhausen bought the manor. 31 years later, the once one-story castle was built here. The estate, which included 1,236 hectares of forest and fields and several houses, stables and barns at the beginning of the 20th century, remained in the von Bodenhausen family until 1945, when the landowners were expropriated. Since then, the manor house has served as a military hospital, residential building, children's home and high school. It has been a youth hostel since 1989. The remaining outbuildings have been renovated in recent years.

Hiking
The current building was built on an older site in 1654. In 1909 a baroque renovation took place. In 1945 it served as a Soviet military hospital. Today there is a youth hostel there.
