From 1908 to 1941 there was a richly decorated station building with a tower in the municipality of Dals Rostock. It had Art Nouveau influences and was reminiscent of similar buildings in Switzerland. When a new, more modern station building was built in 1941, the old one was demolished. In 1968 passenger traffic on the route to Dals Rostock was discontinued and the new station was also demolished.

At the end of the nineties, some residents of Dals Rostock had the idea of rebuilding the beautiful old train station as a model - the impetus is said to have been given by old postcards. A 1: 5 scale model was being considered. One carpenter argued that a 1: 2 scale model would last longer. However, it would also be significantly more expensive.

With the help of EU funds, donations from local companies and many private individuals, the building was finally built on a 1: 2 scale. In May 2000 it was transported from the factory to its current location in Dals Rostock.
