The River Parrett is 37 miles long (60 km) and sweeps through the Somerset Levels on its way from Dorset to Bridport Bay and the Bristol Channel. It’s tidal for around 19 miles (31 km) and once saw a significant amount of commercial traffic.

Here, just outside Langport, the river is wide and starts its journey to more visibly today areas, such as the docks at Dunball.
