Tabor Panoramic Lift and Viewing Platform

The city of Steyr is happy about a new landmark. In the future, a panorama lift will connect the city center with the district of Tabor. Hartl Metall built the spectacular platform for entering the new lift – the so-called Taborsteg. Visitors have a wonderful view of the city center and the rivers Steyr and Enns from a dizzy height. Now the spectacular lifting of the platform has been celebrated.

The panoramic lift to the Tabor is the new highlight of the 1000-year-old town of Steyr. The 35-meter difference in height to the newly created viewing platform is overcome in a glass cabin, half in the rock and half outdoors. From above you can enjoy a wonderful panorama. The view stretches over the medieval town center, the confluence of the Enns and Steyr to the mountains of the Kalkalpen National Park. In the future, a ride in the panoramic lift will be a fixed point on every walk through Steyr.
The lift can be reached on foot from the town square in just a few minutes. You get to the lift through a historic tunnel that was an air raid shelter during the Second World War. It connects the historic old town with the Tabor district.
The panoramic lift by architect Helmut Reitter also sets new standards in terms of design. It is simultaneously a strong, self-confident symbol and yet minimized in design. Simplicity cannot generate more wealth.
