First mentioned in 1272 as a moated castle on a branch of the Elbe as the seat of the lords of Ileburg; belongs to the old town part of Mühlberg; Rebuilt in 1545 (after a town fire) under Elector Moritz as a hunting lodge; the moats were drained at the beginning of the 19th century; later used as a district court and prison, from 1859 as the main customs office, then as a school, youth club, city library, city archive and apartment; privately owned since 1999;
