The chapel, built in 1907 on the edge of a ravine with a view of the Lower Argental, is a foundation of the theologian Alois Knöpfler, who was born in Schomburg. The furnishings show his preference for historicist styles such as the neo-Romanesque arches and the neo-Gothic figures. The Christ carrying the cross at the altar table and the reliefs of the fourteen helpers made by the Metz brothers from Gebrazhofen are impressive. In addition, a glass window with a portrait of Professor Dr. theol. Dr. phil Alois Knöpfler by glass painter Max Ulrich.
