Pirk Dam The Pirk Dam is located in the Vogtland near the town of Taltitz near Oelsnitz. The A72 Hof motorway towards Chemnitz runs directly past the dam. Construction work on the dam began in 1935, but its dam wall was not built until two years later. The facility also includes a fore-dam and two fore-basins. The official inauguration of the entire facility took place a few months before the outbreak of the Second World War in 1939. The water from the White Elster is dammed.
From the very beginning, the Pirk Dam has fulfilled various tasks. The reservoir used to supply industrial and commercial water for industry and commerce in the region, among other things.
