History of the chapel
According to records, it was built in 1724 where it is today. The wooden chapel was about 10 square meters and was idyllically framed by four linden trees. The chapel was built in honor of the miraculous image "Maria Hilf", which is today in the devotional chapel of the parish church. In 1824 the small and meanwhile very dilapidated wooden chapel was renewed and enlarged. The right rear linden tree had to be felled. In 1880 the rear left linden tree was knocked down in a thunderstorm, but did not cause any damage. In 1908 the wooden Lady Chapel was again dilapidated and was demolished. Thanks to donations from the population, it was possible to build a new solid chapel. Some pictures adorned the interior. In 1966 the chapel was demolished again and the new building was built in its current form.Association responsible for the chapel
The chapel is taken care of by the Rothenkirchen Chapel Beautification Association, with over 300 members one of the largest associations in the town which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2014. A Fatima procession takes place here twice a year.
