Darfeld has been small and tranquil in the Münsterland for almost 900 years. As for so many other places, the construction of the railway in 1878 meant a real boom for Darfeld's companies. For more than 100 years the train twitched from Rheine to Oberhausen and stopped in the small town - until the line was shut down, the tracks quieted down and the old station building threatened to deteriorate. The Heimatverein Darfeld came on the scene as a rescuer in an emergency, taking on the building and killing two birds with one stone: An important building in the town could be saved and after a renovation, the association finally had its desired home and town hall .heimatverein-darfeld.de/index.html
