The origin of the Bisenzio river, which flows from the Val di Bisenzio through Prato to the Arno, is a mystery not yet fully clarified. The Bisenzio (Bis Entius "waters that flow together") arises from the confluence and union of other waterways; among the various conjectures, the most recent has placed its origin here at the confluence of the Trogola torrent and the Fosso delle Barbe, at the base of Poggio Vespaio, giving life to the Sources of Bisenzio.
