The Red Cliff is one of the most fascinating cliffs on the North Sea coast. The impressive cliff was created 120,000 years ago in the Saleeiszeit, as glaciers deposited massive rock masses in the area of today's island of Sylt. As a result of global warming after the end of the Ice Age, the sea level rose through the glacier melt. Landmassen broke off and left a demolition edge, today's cliff. Through the contact of the land masses with the oxygen in the desire oxidized iron-containing components and colored the steep coast red.
The Red Cliff is located between Wenningstedt and Kampen.

The first thing I visited was the "Red Cliff" when we were on a cycling holiday in Wenningstedt on Sylt. The "Red Cliff" can only be reached on foot, either via the paved dune path or within sight of the beach.

The Red Cliff in Kampen on Sylt is an impressive, up to 30 meter high cliff that stretches for several kilometers along the west coast of the island. The striking red color of the cliff, caused by iron oxide in the sandstone, provides a spectacular natural spectacle, especially at sunset. It is a popular destination for hikers and nature lovers who want to enjoy the unique landscape and the wide view over the North Sea. The Red Cliff in Kampen on Sylt was created by geological processes in which deposits of sandstone formed over millions of years. The characteristic red color comes from iron oxide contained in the sandstone. This natural formation is a result of long-term changes caused by wind, water and weather influences, which shaped the cliffs and still characterize their impressive appearance today.
