The chapel is on a path that leads out of Eppelborn. In a small garden next to the chapel there is also a Way of the Cross depicting the Stations of Christ.

Explanations of the creation of the chapel and the Way of the Cross as a quote from the Eppelborn community website (eppelborn.de/kirchen-und-kapellen/):

The reason for the creation of the chapel was a personal promise that Hans Brachmann made when he turned 50. The location is on a hiking trail that leads from Eppelborn up into the Dirminger Forest.

The St. Wendel architect Ludwig Sebastian made the plans for the chapel. Many hands pitched in and the topping-out ceremony took place in May 1996. The roof covering finally followed in August 1996. Numerous believers celebrated the inauguration on October 3, 1996, a sunny and mild October day.

In terms of its dimensions, the chapel is rather tiny. But it is a gem in a location that reflects the builder's closeness to nature. The saying on the entrance door invites you to look at nature and at the same time invites you to enter the chapel.

The interior impresses with its simplicity. In the apse of the chapel there is a wooden cross made by the Schonach artist Hubert Künzler

made, found its perfect place. Old oak benches from a monastery in the Eifel on a small pavement, a rosary from Africa and the two icons by the Eppelborn painter Agnes Müller invite you to linger and pray.

On October 3, 2008, the Way of the Cross was consecrated, which is located in a circle on a meadow next to the Christ Chapel. 17 uncut stones with a total weight of 17.6 tons represent the 14 Stations of the Cross, with three stones used for the main station, death on the cross, and one stone pointing to the Way of the Cross. On each stone there is a hand-forged cross with the number of the stations and a photo with the description of the respective station of the cross.

As a joint effort of many hard-working helpers, the Christ Chapel is also an expression of deep popular piety.
