Vechterweerd was designed and built according to an "integral sustainability test", according to Vitens a new concept in the drinking water world in which a drinking water company realizes a very sustainable production location in collaboration with parties from the surrounding area. The location is therefore built sustainably and equipped with sustainable building materials such as Accoya wood and a grass roof. It uses 100% green energy, partly from Dutch wind, partly from solar panels. The building, which is half underground, is covered with greenery, which makes it blend in nicely with its surroundings. A swampy area will be built along the site, which will enhance nature development in the area. The Dutch Green Building Council therefore awarded the new location with a **** BREAAM certificate for sustainable construction.
Personally proud of this location, because my employer built this location.
