Catterline is a magical Bay south of Stonehaven. Hugged by green cliffs, the shingle beach is a haven of calm. There's a small pier on the far side of the beach which is said to have been used by local fishermen to smuggle clandestine goods. It has also been said that St Ninian would land here during the late 5th century when trying to convert the Picts to Christianity.

Nowadays the bay and little neighbouring village attract artists and holidaymakers alike to its tranquil shores.
