The ancient parish church of Santa Maria Assunta di Montorio, matrix of all the churches of the Squaranto Valley with jurisdiction up to the Adige (Mambrotta), has been documented since 1069. It was a collegiate church and its Chapter was composed of the Archpriest and 22 brothers priests and clerics.
