Built by the Alcantarini friars in the second half of the XVII century, it stands on the site of an ancient and venerated Byzantine rite rural chapel called "Madonna del Ligori". The convent building has been significantly remodeled in recent decades following the installation of the Cistercian monks, but the church retains its original appearance. Inside the elaborate high altar (1691) is particularly noteworthy, with the fresco of the Virgin of Consolation in an oval frame, still preserved. This church has recently undergone major restoration works which, among other things, the recovering of the precious glazed tile floor. The convent houses a liqueur, a rich library, a fine art gallery, and offers 70 beds to those who wish to share the orderly simplicity of monastic life for a few days.
