A Romanesque basilica originally dating back to the 8th century, but built in its present form in the 9th and 11th centuries, it houses a remarkable treasury. Among other things, five reliquaries from the early and late Gothic periods and an ivory chalice with relief depictions of two miracles performed by Jesus are on display.

The Reichenau Monastery (lat. Monasterium Augiensis) was a Benedictine abbey in Mittelzell on the island of Reichenau in Lake Constance. It was founded in 724 by Pirminius and was the priory of the Bishop of Constance from 1540. Along with St. Gallen and Fulda, it is one of the most important monasteries of the Carolingian period. The monastery was closed in 1757 and the last monks left the island in 1803. Today, the town hall of the Reichenau community is located in the monastery building.
The monastery's book illumination was added to the UNESCO World Documentary Heritage list in 2003. Since 2001, after 250 years, a small community of Benedictines has lived on the island again.

If you visit the island, you should see most of it.
