Location: North Harris, Eilean Siar, Scotland, United Kingdom
A stunning stretch of road that winds and twists through the East Coast of Harris connecting tiny hamlets. The landscape is often described as 'lunar' thanks to its rocks and lochs that reflect the sun.
The road earned its name as it cost a large sum of money to construct. Some of the locals say it 'must have been made of gold'. Its construction began in 1947.

Beautiful winding roads along east coast of Harris. Rocky landscape. Watch you don’t run over any sheep and lookout for otters and sea-eagles
