Another section of the Chemnitztal Cycle Path has been open to traffic since the end of November 2020. Along the museum railway from Markersdorf to Schweizerthal, past Amselgrund to Diethensdorf, it always goes along and over the Chemnitz. In the Schweizertal, the river is more reminiscent of a mountain stream, with rapids, large boulders and steep banks. Canoe races used to be held here. Unfortunately, there is not enough water for such experiences, especially in the summer months. The new part of the cycle path can also be wonderfully combined with a hike on the Via Porphyria through the Amselgrund past the Hockstein to Markersdorf. Of course, the museum railway invites you to take a ride on the weekends.
