Typical Dutch wind mill on the banks of Vlist river at the entrance of Haastrecht. Beautiful surroundings for hiking and biking.

      June 13, 2020

The mill is the sixth in a series of a total of seven basin mills that lined the basin of the western part of the Lopiker- and the eastern part of the Krimpenerwaard. The water was pumped from the Vlist to the Hooge Boezem by these mills. The chimney mills, originally all seesaw mills, were built over the years from 1486 onwards.

The mill is the third mill on this site and replaced a burnt-down wooden octagonal mill from 1739. In 1914 the wind drainage was ended and the seesaw mills were demolished. The inhabited Boezemmolen no. 6 was dismantled.

Mantelpiece No. 6 is owned by Stichting Het Zuid-Hollands Landschap and since 2005 there were plans to rebuild this mill, which finally started in 2010. In October 2010, a new hood was placed on the mill and on May 14, 2011, National Mill Day, the mill was officially put into use.

At the end of 2017, the missing going work was installed in the mill, including a wooden paddle wheel with a diameter of 6.20 meters. The mill is thus again completely complete and ready to work. In consultation with the De Stichtse Rijnlanden water board, the windmill has been grinding water again in part of the original Hooge Boezem since 2020.
