Tips
The Estom refuge is located at an altitude of 1804 meters, in an idyllic setting, between pine trees and a lake.
It is open from the end of May to the beginning of October. For specific dates, prices and reservations, you can visit the refuge's website: refuge-estom.csvss.fr/fr
In case you come hiking out of season and are looking for shelter in the area, the refuge provides an unguarded but open cabin 200 meters away.
The refuge is a good base for a star-shaped tour over several days. Indeed, from Lake Estom (where the refuge is located) several day routes are possible to get close to the high-altitude lakes and reach 3000 meters.translated by
