60 steps lead up to a viewing platform, from which, in good weather, you have a wide panoramic view of Spessart, Odenwald, Taunus and Rhön. The tower, which was completely renovated in 2003, is named after a former chairman of the Spessart Association. Four marked hiking trails meet at the Ludwig-Keller-Turm.
After the National Socialists dissolved associations from 1933 that were not aligned and confiscated their assets, the Spessartbund used the money collected for youth hostels to erect observation towers on the Geishöhe near Wintersbach and on the Stengerts near Schweinheim. The basement tower got its name in 1937 in memory of the chairman Ludwig Keller, who died in 1932.
The tower is locked in the winter months.
