The Carlsbuche is a European beech (Fagus sylvatica) designated as a natural monument in 2003. It is a landscape-defining marrow and border area on the border between Marienheide and Kierspe, south of Benninghausen. The tree stands at 394m above sea level and was set at a meeting point on the historical border between the Grafschaft Mark and the Duchy of Berg with the border between the two parishes of Rönsahl and Kierspe. As a border point, it marks several borders today. At this point run: regional border - Rhineland / Westphalia, administrative district border - Cologne / Arnsberg, district border - GM / MK and much more.
