Giving its name to the nearby train station, Galton Bridge was the highest single span bridge in the world when it was constructed by Thomas Telford in 1829. It now provides pedestrian and cycle access across the New Main Line Birmingham Canal to Smethwick, connecting the canal towpath and NCNs 5 and 81 via Roebuck Lane.
