Megalithic tombs, megalithic monuments, dolmens or megalithic structures are the names for tomb and / or cult sites. The building material was supplied by the large, mostly unhardened stone blocks to boulders, which had deposited the ice age in the landscape. They are the oldest witnesses of human architecture and culture on the island of Rügen and were built in the late Neolithic period, about 6,000 years ago. At a time when the people of that time were settling down, the wheel had just been invented, and they were no longer looking after food only with hunting and gathering, but with agriculture and livestock.

Largest grave at Nobbin. Worth seeing, right on the bike path.
