The moorland to the south west of Beattock is abundant with birdlife and the contrasting seasons bring their own delights. The evocative sound of the skylark taking to the sky can be heard in the summer months, whilst wheaters and stonechats can be spied in spring. The Annandale Way trail crosses this land and views to the Moffat Hills are ever-present.
