Also known as the Tomb of Atreus or the Tomb of Agamemnon, the Treasure of Atreus is a huge tomb that can be visited on the hill of Panagitsa, very close to Mycenae. It was built in the Bronze Age and is characterized by the large vault, the largest preserved in Greece.

The Treasury of Atreus (previously mislabeled Grave of fabled king Agamemnon) with its imposing façade is together with the Clymenstra tomb the most monumental tomb of that type from the early 1350 - 1250 BC ancient greek period. The tomb has probably no relationship with either Atreus or Agamemnon - legendary rulers of Mycenae or Argos in the works of Homer, in the Epic Cycle, and the Oresteia - as archaeologists believe that the Mycenaean sovereign buried there ruled at an earlier date than king; it was named thus by Heinrich Schliemann and the name has been used ever since
