The Jägertor from 1733 is the oldest surviving Potsdamer Stadttor. It stands in the axis of Lindenstraße and forms one of the city exits to the north. It got its name after the lying before the city electoral Jägerhof. The gate was originally part of the Potsdam city wall, the Akzisemauer, which did not serve the fortification, but should prevent the desertion of the soldiers and the smuggling of goods. As the Lindenstraße sliced through the former wall, the Jägertor was also built diagonally to the wall.
