Unfortunately, you cannot visit the abbey and the brewery. The "Claustrum" is also currently closed. In this information room in the "In de Vrede" meeting center, directly opposite the abbey, the monks provide an insight into their monastic life.

You can't buy beer here. This is only possible after prior registration and order via the abbey's website.

But don't worry: you don't come for free! In the meeting center you can taste the "best beer in the world", because only here the Trappist beer from Westvleteren is served.

If you have a sweet tooth: try the "Coupe In de Vrede", prepared with delicious ice cream and Westvleteren Trappist.

In the shop you can buy Trappist cheese, Abbey cheese, Abbey pâté, Kruydekoecke, Hemnepot and many other regional specialties.

The Sint-Sixtus Abbey is an abbey of the Trappists in Westvleteren, Belgium. The abbey is known for its Westvleteren Trappist beer, among other things. The current abbot is Manu Van Hecke. The library has approximately 600 printed works from before 1830 and 40,000 from after that date.

Quiet environment in full nature. A bit muddy in and around the woods. Walk combined with trappist pick-up. Impressive graveyard from WW I.
